Expressive Therapy in Hospice Care
2010 – 2013
Palliative care project for the Altachiara Hospice
Project Leads: Toni Alfano and 3SG Camelot (Gallarate, VA)
The project was carried out between 2010 and 2013 at the Altachiara Hospice, an accredited residential facility in Gallarate (VA) managed by the health and social care organization 3SG. The facility provides comprehensive palliative care and support to individuals living with advanced or terminal-stage incurable illnesses.
The program consisted of one or two individual sessions per week, lasting approximately one hour, throughout each resident's stay.
Sessions were held directly in the patient's room—a peaceful, protected environment free from external noise and interruptions to ensure the privacy of the therapist and the participants.
The project aimed to alleviate anxiety, improve mood, and foster the free expression of physical, psychological, and emotional experiences through expressive mediums such as music and art.
